Although we’ve been writing about many new records posting at FamilySearch.org, we haven’t done a full update to the U.S.A. Vital Records for about a month. There have been MANY database additions & updates. Thirty-nine major additions and updates have been made for the states of Arkansas, California, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin.
We’ve also updated all five of the GenealogyBlog Online Database Links Files. There were no major changes to the Canadian databases. See:

Also includes death records from Fort Smith, 1945-1963 – This collection is part of a cooperative indexing project with the Central Arkansas Genealogical And Historical Society – 32,250 records as of 23 September 2011.
California, San Mateo County, Colma, Italian Cemetery Records 1899-2011 –Imaged Records – Index cards and daily log book of the Italian Cemetery in Colma. This collection is being published as images become available. 32,134 images as of 29 September, 1011 – up 1,277 images since 26 July, 2011.
Georgia Deaths Index 1933-1998 – Imaged Records – Name index and images of Georgia statewide deaths – 2,701,430 records as of 28 September 2011 – Index provided by Ancestry.com.
Idaho, Cassia County Records 1879-1960 – Imaged Records – Marriage, probate, soldier discharge, school census, deeds, patents, homesteads, mining location, coroners, and mothers pension records located at the county courthouse located in Burley. This collection is being published as images become available – Includes Marriages 1908-1947, Coroner’s Inquests 1918-1922; and Probate Records made up of Estate Files 1919-1990, and Record of Wills 1891-1956. 66,835 images as of 19 September, 2011.
Idaho, Clark County Records 1884-1998 – Imaged Records – Clark County marriage affidavits, naturalization records, declarations of intention, deeds, patents, brands and marks, mining records, probate records, and estate files located at the Clark County courthouse. Time period varies by record type. Additional records will be added to this collection as they become available. 19,976 Records as of 23 September, 2011 – up 3,185 images since 19 June 2011.
Illinois Probate Records 1819-1970 – Browsable Imaged Records – Images of will books, administrations, journals, inventories, guardian’s records, and order books from various counties in Illinois. The content and time period will vary by county. Illinois created probate courts in 1819 – 596,642 images as of 22 September, 2011.
Illinois, Chicago Catholic Church Records, 1833-1925 – Images of Catholic church records from the Bishop of Chicago. Some indexes go beyond 1925. Includes Baptisms, Communions. Marriages, and Deaths – 179,454 images as of 9 September 2011 – Includes the records of 171 Churches!
Indiana Marriages 1811-1959 – Indexed in partnership with the Indiana Genealogical Society. Name index of marriages recorded in the Indiana Territory and in the State of Indiana between 1811 and 1959. This collection includes searchable index data for marriage returns and licenses from the following counties: Adams, Allen, Bartholomew, Benton, Blackford, Boone, Brown, Carroll, Clark, Clay, Daviess, Dearborn, Decatur, De Kalb, Delaware, Dubois, Elkhart, Fayette, Franklin, Harrison, Henry, Huntington, Marshall, Ohio, Owen, Rush, and Sullivan. Microfilm copies of original records are available at the Family History Library and at family history centers. Currently this collection is 46% complete. Additional records will be added as they are completed. – 1,303,868 Records as of 23 September 2011 – up 55,157 records since 13 September 2011.
Maine, Washington County Courthouse Records 1785-1950 – Imaged Records – Records from the Washington County Courthouse including revolutionary war, probate and census records – Indexes to these records are included – Includes probate indexes, notices and records – 91,241 images as of 20 September, 2011.
Maryland, Register of Wills Books, 1792-1983 – Digital images from court records at the Register of Wills in Maryland. Includes the following counties: Baltimore City, Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Prince George’s, and Queen Anne’s. This collection is being published as images become available – Browse through 412,711 images as of 17 September 2011 – up 33,782 images since 19 August 2011
Maryland, Probate Estate & Guardianship Files 1796-1940 – Name index and images of probate estate files from the Register of Wills office in the county courthouse. Currently, the following counties are represented in this collection: Calvert (1882-1940), (1838-1940), Cecil (1851-1940), Kent (1749-1940), Prince George’s (1796-1940), and Queen Anne’s (1833-1940), Wicomico (1868-1940) and portions of Allegany (1779-1946) – 62,967 Records and 1,217,025 images as of 9 September 2011.
Massachusetts Deaths, 1841-1915 – Imaged Records – Name index and images of Massachusetts statewide death registers and certificates. When deaths were recorded on register forms, the second page of the form is on the next image. The death registers and certificates are in numbered volumes arranged by year then by individual town – 2,744,355 Records and 804,136 images as of 15 September 2011.
Massachusetts, Plymouth County, Probate Estate files 1686-1881 – Imaged Records – Probate estate files of Plymouth County located at Suffolk County Courthouse in Boston. The files are arranged by number then alphabetical by surname. The files cover the Series 1, 1686-1881. This collection is being published as images become available – 73,733 images as of 12 September 2011.
Michigan County Marriages, 1820-1935 – Images of marriage registers and certificates from county records. This collection does not include the following counties: Alger, Alpena, Barry, Eaton, Gladwin, Kalkaska, Kent, Lenawee, Missaukee, Monroe, Montmorency, Oceana, Oscoda, Schoolcraft, and Shiawassee. – 292,064 images as of 7 September 2011
Montana, Cascade County Records, 1888-1945 – Imaged Records – Includes: Index to births 1893-1933, Certificates of birth 1918-1920, and Register of Births 1893-1933 – 172,198 images as of 9 September, 2011 – up 106,466 since 19 Aug 2011.
New York County Marriages 1908-1935 – Name index and images of New York county marriage records. The collection includes the following counties: Allegheny, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chatauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Clinton, Delaware, Essex, Fulton, Genesee, Greene, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Nassau, Niagara, Oneida, Ontario, Orange, Orleans, Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schuyler, Seneca, St. Lawrence, Steuben, Sullivan, St. Lawrence, Tioga, Tompkins, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Westchester, and portions of Wyoming. The collection does not include New York City nor its boroughs. The collections is currently 13% complete – 374,909 records in 83,891 images as of 17 September 2011.
New York Orange County Probate Records 1787-1938 – Imaged Records of probate records and estate files from the Orange County Surrogate’s Court in Goshen, New York. At this time this collection does not have a name index or any finding aid. – It is published by volume and year range – 202,145 images as of 13 September 2011 – up 59,021 images since 16 Aug 2011.
New York, New York City, Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church Records, 1862-1955 – Imaged Records – Digital images of baptism, marriage, and burial records from Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church in New York City. This collection is being published as images become available – 3,561 images as of 13 September 2011.
New York Queens County Probate Records, 1899-1921 – Images of probate records and proceedings from the Queens County Surrogate’s Court in Jamaica, New York. – 216,157 images as of 14 Sep 2011 – up 61,695 records since 30 July 2011.
North Carolina Estate Files 1663-1917 – Imaged Records – Index and images of estate files from North Carolina counties. The originals were filmed at the North Carolina Department of Archives and History. The estate records contain loose papers relating to the settlement of estates including such matters as provision for heirs including minor children as well as distribution of funds, land and property, including slaves – 25,085 records and 558,092 images as of 28 September, 2011 – up 11,809 records and 281,396 images since 20 August, 2011.
North Carolina, County Records, 1833-1970 – Imaged Records – Collection of various county records including, wills, guardianships, estates, voter registration books, coroner’s inquests, etc. It was filmed at the North Carolina Department of Archives and History in Raleigh. This collection is being published as images become available. The collection includes Beaufort County Wills 1808-1968; Columbus County Estate Files 1812-1968; Durham County Widow’s Dower & Year’s Support 1881-1944 (indexed in front of book); Gaston County Estates 1839-1970 & Wills 1847-1968 Vol. 38-41; Lincoln County Marriage Records 1892-1916; Mecklenburg County Estate Files 1880-1952; Northampton Coroner’s reports 1793-1905; Richmond County Coroner’s inquests 1906-1967; and Stanley County Coroner’s inquests 1914-1957 – 189,051 images as of Sept 17, 2011.
Ohio, Cuyahoga County Probate Files 1813-1900 – Browsable imaged records – not indexed yet – Probate case files from the Cuyahoga County Courthouse in Cleveland. The files are arranged by docket number, case number and date – 1,124,558 images as of 22 September 2011, up 55,196 images since 25 April 2011.
Oregon, County Marriages, 1851-1975 – Index and images of marriage records from counties in Oregon. These records include licenses amd marriage certificates and are arranged by county, volume, and date. Currently this collection is 13% complete. Additional records will be added as they are completed – 55,959 records and 5,466 images as of 17 September 2011.
Oregon, Benton County Records, 1853-1984 – Imaged Records – This collection includes digital images of land and property records, old age pensions, naturalization records, military records, and a few probate records, made up of Records of Bonds of Guardians 1853-1856. More records will be added to the collection as images become available – 75,599 images as of 17 September, 2011.
Oregon, Columbia County Records 1854-1858 – Imaged Records – This collection includes digital images of land and property, marriage, and naturalization records and indexes digitally captured at the Columbia County Courthouse in St. Helens, Oregon. This collection is being published as images become available – Includes Marriage Indexes 1854-1899, and Marriage Records 1854-1956 – 47,375 images as of 23 September, 2011.
Oregon, Polk County Records, 1857-1972 – Imaged Records – Includes will records 1925-1945 (Volume 4) for the county – This collection includes digital images of records from the Polk County Courthouse in Dallas, Oregon. More records will be added to this collection as images become available – 34,823 images as of 17 September, 2011.
Tennessee Marriages 1796-1950 – Name index to marriage records from the state of Tennessee – 1,672,006 records as of 20 September, 2011.
Tennessee County Marriages 1790-1950 – Name index and images of Tennessee county marriage records acquired from local courthouses. Records include marriage registers, marriage licenses, marriage bonds, and marriage certificates from the following counties: Carroll, Cheatham, Cocke, Grainger and Greene. There may be others. Currently this collection is 8% complete. Records consist of packets, with multiple documents per packet – 375,362 records as of 21 September 2011 – 299,122 browsable images.
Utah Probate Records, 1851-1961 – Imaged Records – Collection of probate records, including case files and other documents created by the Probate Courts of various Utah counties. Probates were generally recorded in the county of residence. This collection is being published as images become available. 23,527 images as of 23 September 2011.
Utah, Davis County Records, 1869-1920 – Imaged Records – Images of naturalization, birth, deaths, marriage, probates, wills, land and cemetery records from the county courthouse in Farmington. This collection is being published as images become available. 40,381 images as of 19 September, 2011 – Up 7,786 images since 24 June 2011.
Utah, Salt Lake County Deaths Records, 1908-1949 – Imaged Records – This project was indexed in partnership with the Utah Genealogical Association. Name index and images for Salt Lake County death records from 1908-1949. The volumes are arranged chronologically. The entries are arranged numerically. Deaths from 1908-1949 were recorded on certificates . They are arranged numerically by registered number then by date of death (i.e. month & year). Some records in this collection may be for deaths occurring before 1908 where the remains were re-interred between 1908 and 1949 – 23,106 images provide 118,620 Records as of 13 September 2011 – up 2,138 records since 18 July 2010.
Vermont Town Records, 1850-2005 – Imaged Records – Records posted thus far are for the counties and towns of Addison, Bennington, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans, Rutland, and Washington. Inducled are Births, Marriages, and Deaths – 75,597 images as of 9 September 2011 – From the “Vermont Town Records, 1850-2005,” database, FamilySearch Record Search, 2010. Digital copies of originals housed in town halls in various counties throughout Vermont.
Washington State County Records 1885-1950 – Imaged Records – Collection of various records including official actions, probate records, indexes, etc. The records are from various counties in Washington State, 1885-1950. This is an ongoing collection – Currently contains records for Adams (Birth Returns 1894-1942, Probate bonds 1903-1923, Probate Case files 1885-1945, Probate Letters 1904-1927, Probate Records 1885-1931, Record of Probate Claims 1903-1917, and Record of Wills 1888-1959); Asotin (Probate Case Files 1901-1937); Lincoln (Probate Journals 1917-1961 and Probate Records 1897-1917); Pend Oreille (Probate Case Files 1912-1931 and Probate Records 1915-1916); and Pierce counties – 498,452 images as of 23 September, 2011.
Wisconsin Probate Estate Files, 1848-1933 – Images of probate estate case files from various counties in Wisconsin. This collection includes Green County (1848-1885), Jackson County (1897-1935), Pepin County (1900-1935), Shawano County (1861-1933) and Trempealeau County (1900-1920). United States, Applications for Headstones for Military Veterans, 1925-1941 – Imaged Records – Images of applications for headstones received by the Cemeterial Division of the Quartermaster General. United States, Records of Headstones of Deceased Union Veterans, 1879-1903 – Imaged Records – Images of card records used to provide headstones for deceased Union veterans. Most burials occurred in private cemeteries though some may have occurred in National Soldier Home cemeteries. Gravestones were provided to Union soldiers who died between 1861 and 1903. Some cards may include War of 1812 veterans.The gravestones were provided between 1879-1903 by the United States government.
