One of the bits of information I’ve picked up here at the National Genealogical Society Conference, which starts this morning in Cincinnati, is that RootsTech 2013 is taking a bit of a new direction.
The model for RootsTech – and one that was followed quite closely the last two years – was that RootsTech would be a conference dedicated to classes for both genealogists and developers. That’s not changing entirely. But – much more emphasis will be placed on helping genealogists who may be novices to the rapidly-advancing technology available to us. This is great news. I have no idea how many people I spoke to last year who had just come from a class that they thought would be interesting – and found that the speaker spoke in terms that left them totally bewildered – and frustrated that they’d just spent an unproductive hour. So look for a lot more help this next year in the area of getting genealogy technology beginners off and running.
RootTech 2013 will be held March 21 through 23, 2013 – and Family Roots Publishing Co. has applied to exhibit there again this next year.
Note that the Call for RootsTech 2013 presentations is now open!
