You do recognize Edward Cullen??? Since the Twilight stories have swept the world, and I just had the opportunity to visit Forks, Washington, where the story takes places, I’ve had vampires on my mind. Would you have guessed that if you Google “vampire genealogy” you will get some interesting results???? (Leland, do you offer any books on vampire genealogy?????)
Last weekend I visited my family in Port Angeles and we drove out through Forks on the way to a day of walking on the beach. Forks was the home to the Twilight series with Edward (the vampire), Bella (the human) and Jacob (the wolf). Is it a confession to admit I’ve read all the books and seen all the movies and cannot wait until Nov 21st when the next and last movie is out?
Forks is a wet, gray, cold, rainy, drizzly, foggy place (perfect for vampires who avoid the sun) and there is very little visual evidence (except the gift shops) that I could recognize from the movies. Forks is a little logging town and why not capitalize on tourist money……. and boy oh boy did they come……….. even though there really isn’t much to see. Folks have put up signs in their yards (“Edward was here”) and there is a Bella Burger offered at the local burger joint.
Driving out to the beach, we did drive through the Quileute Indian Reservation (Jacob was a Quileute) and I saw these signs:
Whether you were a Twilight fan or not, hope you found my vampire-Forks-Twilight musings interesting. How often does one get to visit The Place were “history” happened??????
