FamilySearch Adds Mexican War Data & Confederacy Service Records

FamilySearch Adds to United States Mexican War Index and Service Records; New Collection for United States Confederacy Navy and Marine Service Records

FamilySearch added 211,909 additional images records for the United States Mexican War Index and Service Records collection, which includes a large portion of the war’s 78,718 American servicemen. Other notable additions include 514,562 browsable images in the Netherlands, Groningen Province, Church Records collection from 1595-1864, and the 21,529 browsable images for the new United States Confederacy Navy and Marine Service Records collection from 1861-1865. See the table below for the full list of updates. Search these diverse collections and more than 3.5 billion other records for free at FamilySearch.org.

Searchable historic records are made available on FamilySearch.org through the help of thousands of volunteers from around the world. These volunteers transcribe (index) information from digital copies of handwritten records to make them easily searchable online. More volunteers are needed (particularly those who can read foreign languages) to keep pace with the large number of digital images being published online at FamilySearch.org.
