If you don’t know who Kate Middleton is, then you certainly do not follow the day-to-day affairs of the British monarchy. Kate has had an ongoing relationship with Prince William for the last five years or so. Her parents own a very successful mail-order company called “Party Pieces.” It is successful, but not the kind of operation that would allow the lifestyle that the Middletons have achieved.
Kate has often been called a “commoner” by the British tabloids. As Americans, we can’t quite comprehend all the snobbery of the upper-crust Brits, but that’s beside the point. According to author, Claudia Joseph, the Middleton family is anything but common. Using a bit of genealogy sleuthing, Joseph has uncovered extensive genealogical information on the family – pointing to a a decent sum of “old money.”
