It’s been beastly hot across America for all of us so I thought a snowy-December photo of Salt Lake might be refreshing. This view is to the north from a window in the Plaza…… the “big white roof” is the roof of the library! Yes, it is that close to the hotel. (But you’ll notice that the walking areas are clear….. no need to pack your down parka and mucluck boots.)
Big tribute to our dear Bill Balter who will not be able to join us again due to his health. We did so love joking with him…. and I especially loved given him crazy gifts……….. gifts of fancy undershorts designed to embarrass him in front of his wife. We will miss you, Bill.
As you’ve sat in your air conditioned living room, or sipping something cool out on your deck, have you begun to think about what research problems you want to bring to the Library this December?? Not too early to be thinking about this……… maybe a new brickwall or deadend problem than the same-old-same-old one???
Big happy news! Joy Price will be with us this year. She and hubby Merlin are back from their 2-year mission to Nauvoo, Illinois (where they got to live in the house built by her several-greats grandfather!) and she’s eager to rendezvous with the Salt Lake Christmas Tour family again.
As Garrison Keillor says, paraphrased, “Stay cool, do good works, and stay in touch.”
