Chicago-area teacher and genealogist announces a project to “crowd-fund” a television documentary based on submitted family history stories.
Genealogist Madonna Davis announced that she has received approval of her creative project to “crowd-fund” a television documentary based on submitted family history stories from Kickstarter.com. The fund-raising project launched today, Thursday, October 10th and will run for 42 days seeking to raise enough funds to produce a quality genealogical journey of a submitted family story – the production will feature discovery, exploration, truth and dramatic historical reenactment!
For those unfamiliar with how funding on Kickstarter works, projects are submitted for review and approval, if granted — a project goal is set and the project published for very limited time 30-50 days. Project backers who support the project can select rewards that they wish to receive. The important thing to note is that this is an “all or nothing” proposition — projects that fall short of their funding goal fail — and the money is returned to the donors. Project creator Madonna Davis said, “It is vital this project be shared widely with supporters so we can reach our goal by the deadline”.
