I’ve written about the planned Conner-Bishop Library in the past. My dear friend, Ruth Bishop, has been planning to open a genealogy library in the Portland, Oregon area for many years. She’s been collecting books for as long as I’ve known her, which is about 25 years. During the last decade or so, Ruth purchased many major collections that she planned to place in her library. During the last year Ruth’s health has not been good, and it looked like the planned library might end up only being a dream. Because of this, the board of directors of the planned Conner-Bishop Historical Resource Center struck a deal with another dear freind, Arlene Eakle, of Tremonton, Utah. Arlene has been building a library for many years also, to which many of us (myself included) have donated genealogy-related books and materials. The genealogical portion of the Conner-Bishop Library was transferred to Arlene.
The following was posted on the Conner-Bishop Historical Resource Center website.
“On Friday, January 31 the last of six 53-foot semi-truck loads of books and shelving were delivered to Arlene’s building at 56 West Main St. Tremonton UT 84337. Arlene hopes to have this massive collection open to the public by the spring of 2015. The collection will still be called the Conner-Bishop Historical Resource Center… The computer portion has been placed in the Living Computer Museum in south Seattle, Washington.”
