MUSKEGON [Michigan] — For more than a decade, Hackley Public Library patrons have relied on Marilyn Gannon’s expertise to sort through dusty archives and ancient newspapers to learn more about themselves.
Gannon, the library’s head clerk in its local history/genealogy department, has helped fit in the missing links on countless family trees. She has overseen the basement room filled with old photographs, periodicals, city directories and micro-filmed newspapers.
Now Gannon is planning to spend more time with her own family, which includes 14 grandchildren and counting. Gannon retired from the library Tuesday after nearly 11 years in the stately institution’s lower-level history/geneaology department.
