“The New Jersey Historic Trust is helping to revitalize the that state’s economy by helping municipalities at a time when the recession is having a dramatic effect. The Trust picked 60 historic sites around the state to receive total grants of $15.5 million, up from what had originally been set at $10.5 million. A combination of funds from the Garden State Preservation Trust and bond money that was approved by voters in 2007 will be used to award the matching grants.
In Hudson County alone, the following two historic sites will get funding:
- Ellis Island’s hospital complex
- The Hoboken Public Library
