The Stow-Munroe Falls, Ohio, Public Library will soon be relocating their historical collection which contains documents and records that were formerly kept in an “historical room” which was sometimes closed. The historical items will be moved near the information services department on the west side of the building on the first floor. Cabinets and storage units will be placed along the rear walls for additional materials.
The move is expected to be made just after the Memorial Day weekend at the library on 3512 Darrow Road in Stow. “We are not getting rid of any local history materials,” Doug Dotterer, library director, said. “We are not discarding anything. Local history is not a private collection. It is open to everyone.”
Items in the collection include:
- Back issues of the Stow Sentry,
- Summit County census information,
- city directories from 1940,
- a computer station,
- oral history audiotapes,
- genealogy magazines,
- community church news from 1934-1949 with a database index,
- clippings files,
- special collections,
- maps and
- original documents.
