“A New Leaf,” Hosted by Daisy Fuentes, Beginning Oct. 5 on NBC

A new NBC and Ancestry sponsored Saturday morning program entitled A New Leaf seems to turn a corner for network programming of genealogy. Most genealogy-related TV programs have been celebrity oriented. A New Leaf  promises to be about “normal” people – whatever they are… LOL The following news release from Litton Entertainment gives more information. Thanks to Crista Cowan and Ancestry for their hard work on the program. Click on the illustration to view the Facebook Page for A New Leaf.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Aug. 28, 2019 — NBC and Litton Entertainment, the preeminent producer of award-winning family programming, today announced the lineup for their three-hour Saturday morning “The More You Know” programming block. In an exciting addition, “A New Leaf” will join the fourth season of “The More You Know,” alongside returning favorites “Earth Odyssey with Dylan Dreyer,” “Consumer 101,” “Vets Saving Pets” and “The Champion Within.”

“The More You Know” will continue to bring viewers stories about environmental stewardship, social innovators, health, civic engagement, diversity – and now family history.

Each week host Daisy Fuentes and “A New Leaf” will follow people on the cusp of key life inflection points, using family history, genealogy, and sometimes DNA analysis to guide them on their journey of self-discovery, and help them learn from the past while looking to the future. In partnership with Ancestry®, Fuentes will join families as they learn the importance of appreciating and understanding their family history and ancestors in order to make important life decisions.

Fuentes served as the first Latina VJ on MTV and recently hosted Telemundo’s hit-series “La Voz Kids,” which revolutionized the ways Spanish-speaking television is produced.

“Family is everything to me, and I’m a true believer that there is great power in knowing where you come from and understanding your family history,” Fuentes said. “I’m delighted to be part of ‘A New Leaf,’ helping people on their journey of personal discovery, and reinforcing that learning about your past can change how you see your future.”

  1. I’m going to watch, adopted as an infant, I haven’t been able to locate my half sister. Hoping this will help. As a senior our time is running out. Have done DNA, but to no avail, hope this show can help.

  2. Hello Daisy!
I am so thankful to see a positive show like “A New Leaf” on television. It’s so important for families to know their family history which I believe impacts their future.
Unfortunately my Mom passed away and my family has been left in the dark about our history so I guess you could say our tree is pretty empty. We could really use help finding out the truth and collecting leaves.
Now that I have my own children and grandchildren it would mean the world to me to be able to give them a complete family tree to pass on to their children one day.
Thank you so much for changing lives with this amazing show.
Daisy, I would love to go on this journey with you.
    Thank you for your consideration.

  3. Hello A New Leaf program.
I have been tracking my roots via Ancestry. My elder family have all passed and I am stuck. Being almost 60% Irish I have a Patrick Connolly and also a Peter Ward. Very common names. Then I have an Abraham Miller who we think is possibly Swiss German. The last is Aaron Blanchard, again, that last name is quite plentiful. Not 100% certain if French and/or English. My DNA is on Ancestry. I am wondering if somebody with your group could help me.
Thank you, Daisy, for reading and consideration.

  4. Born 72 years ago in Costa Rica. Found I was Adopted at age 51! I. Red to know my heritage. Both adoptive parents deceased.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

  5. Just found your show- (usually work times it’s on). Very excited to see it! A few years back we paid a a short term membership fee to search my family bloodline as word of mouth from now deceased relatives was that we were descendants of Catherine de Medici. With our short time search on Ancestry the “leaves” indeed traced me back to her and further to Lorenzo dd Medici!!
My mostly large italian family is now gone save 1 sister & 5 cousins (father was the youngest of 7).I do miss my family immensely and would love to connect with any relatives I may have and not know of. If I rejoin Ancestry, what would my next step be?? Thank you so much for what you do!!!

  6. I just watched my first episode ever and was amazed. I would like to have A New Leaf Look at my family tree on my fathers side. He is half Italian and half Irish. My father is no longer living and I knew his parents and have done a little geneology, however, it’s difficult with language barrier.

I would love to be a contestant.

  7. Daisy I’m writing in desperate need of help. There is so many things my pap didn’t tell anyone. We know he changed his name and came to US at around 13 but his mother and stepdad were already here so the ques are who was he with, where was he really from. Do I still have family there. And also my father was in Army stationed in Germany between 1069-71. He believed he fathered a child with his German girlfriend but didn’t remember her last name and I am desperately trying to find them. My dad passed and I want to fill in all the blanks. Thank you!!
