I spotted obituaries for the following genealogists this last week:
Vangie Way – Age 98 – Pictou County, Nova Scotia Canada
Vangie Way has been called a rock star in the genealogical world, an ambassador for the region and a walking encyclopedia of Pictou County knowledge.
“She’s one of those people that comes along all too infrequently,” said Clyde Macdonald, a longtime friend of Way’s. “She certainly was salt of the earth. I always called her a veritable walking encyclopedia and that she was.”
Way, who was born in Springville and raised her own family in Riverton, passed away on Sept. 15 at the age of 98, but the impact of her research and kindness lives on in her hometown.
Macdonald, who has written 19 books on local history, dedicated his first book, Artisans in Stone in Pictou County to Way.
