Monroe, Michigan Gets National Park Service Grant of $350k for the Future River Raison Battlefield Park

MONROE [Michigan] — The city of Monroe has been awarded a $350,000 federal grant to acquire land for the future River Raison Battlefield Visitor CenterRiver Raisin Battlefield National Park.

City Council on Monday approved accepting the grant from the National Park Service. The grant doesn’t require matching funds from the city.

The city applied last month to the U.S. Department of the Interior to obtain funds for the War of 1812 battlefield.
