The retired Bishop of Derry Dr Edward Daly has launched a new edition of his popular book on the history of the priests of the diocese of Derry. The Clergy of the Diocese of Derry, co-written with Fr Kieran Devlin, was published in 1997 and sold well throughout Ireland.
The new edition, which Dr Daly has described as “a labour of love,” features updated information on saints associated with the Derry diocese and a list of priests who studied at the seminary in Fergusons Lane.
Dr Daly said he began working on the new edition shortly after the publication of the first. “I was taken aback by the interest in the first edition. I got tremendous feedback from it. Work on the second edition began after the release of the first because people were updating me with information on some of the priest,” he said.
