John D. Reid, with Anglo Celtic Connections posted a blog today announcing the fact that Bill Arthurs has a great new Titus family website up and running. Having Titus family ancestry myself, I got fired up upon reading that blog, and clicked over to check it out.
I have hundreds of files of Titus family data, all of which I’m attempting to get digitized and filed electronically, but looking at Arthurs’ website, all I can say is that I’ve never seem so much Titus family data in my entire life.
The indexes are broken down into four categories:
Arthurs makes the following statement about the index.
This INDEX section consists of the nominal indexes relating to four Titus lines. The largest is the line of Robert Titus who arrived in America from England with his wife, Hannah, and two children in 1635. The second is the Dutch line, descended from Titus Syrach de Vries. The third is the German line, and the last is a New Brunswick Titus line that has yet to be connected to any of the other lines. In total, the lists approach 140,000 names.
Extractions of what looks to be all Titus family entries in the 1790 through 1930 U.S. Federal censuses are also posted on the site. Be prepared for LONG download times, as these are massive sets of extractions – even if you have an ultra high-speed Internet connection.
This is an excellent site, of interest to anyone with Titus connections. Congratulations go out to Bill Arthurs for an outstanding job.
