Pequot Library’s Family & Local History Collection in Fairfield, Connecticut, to Open Saturday with a Special Program

FAIRFIELD, CONNECTICUT: The Pequot Library’s Family and Local History Collection, which had been in storage during the library’s renovation will re-open to the public with a special exhibit this next Saturday.

The collection, part of the library’s nationally known Special Collections, is a genealogical resource for the Pequot Libraryregion, including an array of local histories from throughout New England and the rest of the original colonies dating from the mid-16th century to the late-20th century. The genealogical collection is now back on the library’s shelves in a controlled environment and ready to to be used.

Two special programs are planned in conjunction with the collection’s re-opening – one of which will be given by my friend, Lou Szucs (Ancestry.com, and author of LOTS of books!) at 1 p.m. Saturday. Lou will speak about developments in researching family history, including the use of both traditional libraries, as well as archival materials like those at the Pequot Library. And, of course, she will speak on online technology besides.

The lecture is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted.
