You may have noticed that I’ve not blogged as much as I normally do this last week. I thought it might be fun to tell you why.
We’ve been busy…
About 9 P.M. last Sunday night we set up the Family Roots Publishing Company display in the Wyndham Hotel in Salt Lake where the annual Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy was starting. We worked until about 1:30 A.M., and headed home for a little sleep. The following day, Dale and Misse sold books, then we packed up the display from about 6 to 9 in the evening. On Friday, I spoke on the genealogy book business at SLIG, passing on a few things I’ve learned in my 28 years in the business. We set up the FRPC display at the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, and sold books Wednesday through Friday.
Also on Monday, we sent German Map Guide Volume 36, Alsace-Lorraine, Volume IV, to press, checking the proofs the following day. The volumes, both hard and soft cover, are now all at the bindery.
Beside selling books at the Wyndham and the Plaza, we shipped what may have been a record number of volumes from FRPC this week. Lots of great books are on their way to genealogists worldwide.
While this was going on, I also sent out the first FREE Genealogy Newsline newsletter – then spent the rest of the week sending the Newsline to portions of the email mailing list, testing various operations of our proprietary Newsline sender. I finally finished this process this afternoon, and am back to a more normal schedule – and yes, blogging… Genealogy Newsline Vol. 1 #1 is available in the Newsline archives on this blog. Click here to check it out.
We are planning to send out the FREE Genealogy Newsline on a weekly Tuesday schedule from this point forward.
To subscribe, just enter your email address in the box (Free Genealogy Newsline Newsletter) in the upper left-hand corner of the FRPC website, and register at the site. You will have a copy of the next Genealogy Newsline sent directly to your email inbox.
Oh – the most important part of the week I almost overlooked here. My grandchildren, Robby and Tabitha, both spent several days with us. Those kids make all the work worthwhile…
D LKM,
I have to get a copy of “German Map Guide Volume 36, Alsace-Lorraine, Volume IV.” Please don’t sell them all before I save up my spare quarters.
Tom Fiske
Oh, please, save me a copy. My ancestors came from Alsace-Lorraine (I always heard it spoken as Alsace-St. Lorraine). Let me know when and how I can send you the price and when the book will be sent.
With much gratitude – Julie Grant, Dallas, TX
